Teacher Toolbox
Primary resources are critical to understanding our past and recent history. By preserving the voices, photographs and first-hand accounts from those who came before us, we get one step closer to understanding the nuances of their lives and time and how their decisions have shaped our contemporary lives. BCR’s CDP strives to give its members access to a wealth of primary sources in a digital format. By digitizing these materials, we can increase their use and the ease of access for students and interested persons across the globe and, by increasing use, we hope to increase understanding. This is how BCR’s CDP helps our members as well as the wider community discover new voices, share vital materials and experience our history in a new way.
BCR’s CDP is committed to opening the doors to important archived materials to students, researchers and anyone interested in learning more about our rich history. In keeping with this commitment, we have drawn together educators from across the country to create comprehensive lesson plans and projects to help engage students and lifelong learners with the interactive materials that have been digitally archived by CDP and its partner institutions.
The Teacher Toolbox is a set of resources geared toward educators. It will help you structure your classes by using detailed lesson plans and direct links to relevant images and sound files. These materials can help you draw your students into the material by providing them with images and audio files that help them come face to face with history.
